Improvement of the Access to HIV/AIDS Prevention and Support

Project Duration September, 2012 - August, 2015

Regional Coverage: Shirak


Prevent spreading of HIV/AIDS in 60 villages of Shirak Marz/Region of Armenia through rising of awareness among the entire population (with a special emphasis on risk groups and Local authorities) and providing possibilities of free anonymous blood testing for STIs.

Project activities

  • development of a TOT training module for the outreach training;
  • selection of 60 communities in Shirak Region
  • development of an MOU between the communities, local Church and Armenian Caritas for the implementation of the project;
  • organization of separate outreach trainings on HIV/AIDS for the Community Coordinators of the targeted villages and for the local Community Priests, aiming at their capacity enhancement
  • development, publication and distribution of information leaflets and posters for awareness-raising activities;
  • film shooting on the subject of HIV/AIDS dangers and risks, accompanying the disease and organization of film screenings, as well as secure life with HIV/AIDS, if timely identified and cured;
  • organization of trainings on the subject of HIV/AIDS in each of the targeted community. After a period of standstill a training will be organized in each of the communities on the topic of “ HIV/AIDS and harm reduction”, according to the module to be developed by the preliminarily recruited HIV/AIDS Expert.
  • provision of anonymous free tests in the specialized Blood Bank laboratory for the people from the targeted communities who have concerns about being infected by HIV/AIDS and /or other STIs.
